Totems
These totems refer to pre-literature cultures, folktales of wise women in Celtic mythology in which trees and branches play a significant role. The concept of the Fylgja, in Norse mythology, represents feminine ancestral guardian spirits that accompany us, not only on a personal level, but tied to our lineage, weaving a tapestry of interconnectedness through generations. My own female lineage inspired me to create these totems as symbols of healing and power. I choose
the materials for their personal history and I transform them into universal scepters of
power. If necessary they might be used as weapons. It is an attempt to ask my female ancestors for their blessings and healing and to transcend generations of suppression.
