Innovate to Inspire (2019 – 2021)
A collaboration with

By Staco, a Dutch multinational specialized in the production of construction panels and gratings, I was commissioned to inspire their innovation project for new product development. The assignment involved exploring the creative potential of steel strapping material to for both new product designs and a new production process. Leveraging my experience with steel strapping, I created 30 unique panels (30cm x 30cm each), which served as the foundation for new products and contributed to the innovation of a new production machine.
This project was concluded with an exhibition in the Netherlands, where the employees of the factory choose their favourite designs with red and green smiley stickers. Ultimately the designs served as input for a new product-line and a innovative new production process. I am proud to work in this example of how creative expression can push industrial innovation and technical advancement.

Connected spaces (2019)

I was asked to create a site specific installation that would connect two alcoves in a home in Málaga, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal. Inspired by the clean lines and vibrant colours of Mondrian’s paintings, I designed this piece using black steel strapping and coloured segments. The coloured pieces, strategically placed, bring a lively contrast and cast beautiful coloured shadows on the walls, adding depth and movement.
Design Klaas Dijkstra Academieprize (2013)
Commisioned by Academie of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen (NL)
The Klaas Dijkstra Academy Prize was awarded between 2002 and 2018 by a changing professional jury and presented to a final year visual arts student from the Academy of Fine Arts Minerva in Groningen (NL).
A student who had graduated the year before, was given the assignment to design the prize and to create the object in triplicate. In 2013 this honour fell to me. I designed my version of a bunch of festive flowers in the steel band that I like to use for my site-specific and 3-dimensional work.
The creation of this prize was financed by The Klaas Dijkstra Fonds.

Thymos (2013)
Commissioned by the Groningen Centre of Visual Art (CBK Groningen)

Sketch design ‘Thymos’, ‘Kunst op maat’- assignment, commissioned by CBK Groningen for the restaurant of the House of Province Groningen.
For the restaurant at the House of Province in Groningen, I created a design inspired by four villages in the province of Groningen. Each design draws from a distinctive building in these regions, bringing the rich history of these villages into this important city landmark.
In Jukwerd, I was captivated by the old brick factory—a symbol of the region’s heavy sea clay. While challenging for agriculture, this clay was ideal for making bricks and roof tiles, shaping the area’s architectural identity.
This iconic building inspired a site-specific artwork that plays with perspective, reflecting the region’s history and craftsmanship in a modern, artistic way.
